Guaranteed protection of Camp Ashraf residents is necessary for independent international investigations
International Federation of Workers Unions , a non-governmental organization at the United Nations Economic and Social Council, with more than 70 million members from 95 countries, supports the European plan for achieving a reasonable, peaceful, and permanent solution for Camp Ashraf, and calls for immediate actions to implement this peaceful plan.
Stressing that Camp Ashraf residents are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention, the International Federation of Workers Unions , emphasizes that guaranteed protection of Camp Ashraf residents is an international necessity.
International Federation of Workers Unions considers compulsory relocation of Ashraf residents unrealistic and believes that practically, such relocation can only result in another crisis.
Until full implementation of the European plan and completion of the transition period, the military occupation of Camp Ashraf must be terminated, the two and a half year siege should be ended, residents who were severely wounded as a result of the April 8th attack must receive medical treatment, and independent investigations of the April 8th attack and the ensued crimes at Camp Ashraf must be conducted.
